Abstract

Method of chromatographically separating a mixture by contacting said mixture under chromatographic separation conditions with a chromatographic separation stationary phase comprising an N-acyl diazepine polymer. In a preferred from, the polymer has been rendered substantially alkali-stable by substitution for the hydrogen at the C3 position on the diazepine ring.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is: .[.1. A chromatographic separation medium comprising a chromatographic inert substrate having a coating comprising a polymeric N-acyl diazepine moiety of the general formula: ##STR9## where R is a hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl, R 2 is a divalent alkylene radical, and R 3 is an alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or

aralkyl group..]. .[.2. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 1 wherein said coating is a copolymer of said diazepine moiety and a copolymeric moiety..]. .[.3. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 2 wherein said copolymeric moiety has the general formula: ##STR10## where R 6 is alkyl, aryl, alkaryl or aralkyl, and R 5 is

alklylene..]. .[.4. A chromatographic separation medium comprising a chromatographic inert substrate having a coating comprising a polymeric N-acyl diazepine moiety of the general formula: ##STR11##

.]. .[.5. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 1 wherein said substrate is in the form of a plurality of particles of substantially uniform size in the range of between about 1 to 300 μm in diameter..]. .[.6. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 5 wherein said particles are substantially imporous..]. .[.7. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 5 wherein said particles are substantially porous and have an average pore diameter in the range of between about 50 to 50,000 A..]. .[.8. A chromatographic separation medium as defined in claim 1 wherein said substrate is selected from the group consisting of silica, alumina, magnesia, titania and zirconia..]. .[.9. Method of manufacturing a chromatographic column packing comprising the step of coating onto a chromatographically inert substrate, an N-acyl diazepine polymer..]. .Iadd.10. A polymeric pyridinium ylide comprising a plurality of repeating units having the formula ##STR12##
