Homogenous herbicidal adjuvant blend comprising glyphosate ammonium sulfate and alkyl polysaccharide

Abstract

[The present invention includes a homogenous blend for use with a herbicide comprising water, ammonium sulfate and alkyl polysaccharide, with a concentration of about 8.5 pounds of ammonium sulfate or about 2.5 gallons of the blend. The present invention also includes a method for making the homogeneous herbicidal blend, a method for killing broadleaf weeds.] A homogeneous adjuvant blend for use with glyphosate. The homogeneous adjuvant blend comprises ammonium sulfate, a sole surfactant, and water. Ammonium sulfate is provided at a concentration of about 8.5 pounds for about 2.5 gallons of the blend. The sole surfactant in the adjuvant blend is alkyl polysaccharide.

A method for killing broadleaf weeds comprising: making a premix comprising ammonium sulfate, . .alkyl polysaccharide.!. .Iadd.a sole surfactant, .Iaddend.and water wherein the ammonium sulfate has a concentration of about 8.5 pounds for about 2.5 gallons of the premix .Iadd.wherein the sole surfactant is alkyl polysaccharide.Iaddend.;   adding the premix to an aqueous glyphosate mixture to make a homogenous glyphosate blend; and   applying the homogenous glyphosate blend to broadleaf weeds. .Iadd.3. The adjuvant blend of claim 1, wherein the alkyl polysaccharide is provided at a concentration of about 2.0 quarts for about 2.5 gallons of the blend. .Iaddend..Iadd.4. A homogeneous adjuvant blend for use with a glyphosate, the adjuvant blend comprising water, ammonium sulfate and a surfactant, with a concentration of about 8.5 pounds of ammonium sulfate for about 2.5 gallons of the blend, wherein the surfactant consists essentially of alkyl polysaccharide. .Iaddend..Iadd.8. The adjuvant blend of claim 7, wherein the alkyl polysaccharide is provided at a concentration of about 2.0 quarts for about 2.5 gallons of the adjuvant blend. .Iaddend..Iadd.9. A method for killing weeds comprising:   making a homogeneous adjuvant blend comprising ammonium sulfate, a surfactant, and water, wherein the ammonium sulfate has a concentration of about 8.5 pounds for about 2.5 gallons of the homogeneous adjuvant blend and wherein the surfactant consists essentially of alkyl polysaccharide;   adding the homogeneous adjuvant blend to an aqueous glyphosate mixture to make a homogenous glyphosate blend; and   applying the homogenous glyphosate blend to weeds. .Iaddend..Iadd.10. The method of claim 9, wherein the alkyl polysaccharide is provided at a concentration of about 2.0 quarts for about 2.5 gallons of the adjuvant blend. .Iaddend..Iadd.11. A method of enhancing the effectiveness of glyphosate at killing weeds, the method comprising:   making a homogeneous adjuvant blend comprising ammonium sulfate, a sole surfactant, and water, wherein the ammonium sulfate has a concentration of about 8.5 pounds for about 2.5 gallons of the homogeneous adjuvant blend and wherein the surfactant consists essentially of alkyl polysaccharide;   adding the homogeneous adjuvant blend to an aqueous glyphosate mixture to make a homogenous glyphosate blend; and   
     
     
       applying the homogenous glyphosate blend to weeds. .Iaddend..Iadd.12.  The method of claim 11, wherein the alkyl polysaccharide is provided at a concentration of about 2.0 quarts for about 2.5 gallons of the adjuvant

The method of claim 11, wherein making the homogeneous blend comprises: heating water to a temperature of about 180° F.;   mixing about 8.5 pounds of ammonium sulfate with approximately 1.5 gallons of heated water; and   mixing about 2 quarts of alkyl polysaccharide with the ammonium sulfate and water mixture to produce the homogeneous blend. .Iaddend..Iadd.14. A herbicidal mixture comprising:   a homogeneous blend comprising water, ammonium sulfate, and a sole surfactant, wherein ammonium sulfate has a concentration of about 8.5 pounds for about 2.5 gallons of the blend, and wherein the sole surfactant is alkyl polysaccharide; and   an aqueous glyphosate mixture. .Iaddend..Iadd.15. The herbicidal mixture of claim 14, wherein the alkyl polysaccharide is provided at a concentration of about 2.0 quarts for about 2.5 gallons of the blend. .Iaddend..Iadd.16. A homogeneous herbicidal mixture comprising:   an adjuvant blend comprising water, ammonium sulfate and a surfactant, with a concentration of about 8.5 pounds of ammonium sulfate for about 2.5 gallons of the blend, wherein the surfactant consists essentially of alkyl polysaccharide; and   an aqueous glyphosate mixture. .Iaddend..Iadd.18. The homogeneous herbicidal mixture of claim 17, where the alkyl polysaccharide is provided at a concentration of about 2.0 quarts for about 2.5 gallons of the adjuvant blend. .Iaddend..Iadd.19. An improved method for killing weeds using glyphosate, wherein the improvement comprises mixing glyphosate with a homogeneous adjuvant blend, wherein the homogeneous adjuvant blend comprises water, ammonium sulfate, and a surfactant, with a concentration of about 8.5 pounds of ammonium sulfate, for about 2.5 gallons of the blend, wherein the surfactant consists essentially of alkyl polysaccharide. .Iaddend.
