Claims

Abstract

The invention provides a composition for attenuating neovascularization and treating malignancies, including a pharmaceutically effective amount of a compound having a formula: wherein: R 1 is a member of the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, nitro, benzo, lower alkyl, phenyl and lower alkoxy; R 2 is a member of the group consisting of hydroxy, acetoxy, and lower alkoxy, and R 3 is a member of the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkenoxy carbonyl; as active ingredient therein, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.

1. A method for the treatment of a tumor sensitive to the compounds  below, in a subject in need of said treatment, comprising the step of administering a pharmaceutically effective amount of a compound having a formula: 
                 
 
       wherein:
 n is  1  or  2 ; 
 R 1  is a member of the group consisting of hydrogen, halogen, nitro, benzo, lower alkyl, phenyl and lower alkoxy;  
 R 2  is a member of the group consisting of hydroxy, acetoxy and lower alkoxy, and  
 R 3  is a member of the group consisting of hydrogen and lower alkenoxy-carbonyl.  
 
     
     
       2. A  The method according to  claim 1 , wherein said compound is Halofuginone. 
     
     
       3. The method of  claim 1 , wherein the tumor is a tumor in breast cancer, lung cancer, bladder cancer, bone cancer, prostate cancer, pancreas cancer, cervix cancer, ovarian cancer, skin cancer, or leiomyosarcoma cancer.
