Abstract

The present invention generally relates to an impact and temperature resistant housing that also resists being removed from its fixed mounting position. Additionally, the present invention resists being fashioned into a weapon if it is removed from its mounted position. In general, the present invention comprises a base section, conical section, terminal support section, and corresponding center terminal.

Claims

exact text as granted — not AI-modified
What is claimed is:

       1. A housing for an electronic data module comprising:
 a base section having a plurality of sections comprising:
 a mounting section;
 a terminal support section having a bore therein, said bore having dielectric material received within at least a portion thereof, said dielectric material being limited to said bore within said terminal support section; and
 a taperedan intermediate section extending outwardly from theinterposed between said mounting section at a predetermined angle and providing a cavity between a mounting surface and the housing when the housing is mountedand said terminal support section, said mounting section being oriented radially outwardly with respect to said intermediate section and said terminal support section; and
 a terminal support section provided adjacent the tapered section;

 a terminal disposed and secured having at least a portion thereof received within the said bore in said terminal support section, said dielectric material electrically isolating said terminal from said terminal support section; and
 an electronic circuit mounted in the cavity whereby the terminal is electrically connected to the said terminal, said electronic circuit being received within said base section and being attached to said intermediate section.

       2. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the longitudinal axis of said terminal support section is in substantially perpendicular arrangement with the base to the traverse axis of said mounting section.

       3. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the said terminal is substantially flush with the said terminal support section when disposed received therein.

       4. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the said base section is substantially circular in shape configuration.

       5. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the tapered section is a frustoconical section extending outwardly from the mounting section.

       6. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the said base section and/or center said terminal have are of any polygonal or non-polygonal shape configuration.

       7. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the said mounting section, the tapered said intermediate section, and the said terminal support section are integrally formed together from a monolithic material.

       8. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein at least one of the said mounting section, the conical said intermediate section, and the said terminal support section are formed from different material than another of the said sections.

       9. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the terminal is electrically isolated from the terminal support section.

       10. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the said mounting section contains an at least one mounting hole that extends through the said mounting section.

       11. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the said mounting section, the conical said intermediate section, and the said terminal support section are formed from an impact resistant material.

       12. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the said mounting section, the conical said intermediate section, and the said terminal support section are formed from a temperature resistant material.

       13. The housing as recited in claim 1 , wherein the electronic circuit is encased in a potting compound within the cavity.

       14. A housing for an electronic data module comprising:
 a base section having a plurality of sections comprising:
 a mounting section;
 a terminal support section having a bore therein, said bore having dielectric material received within at least a portion of said bore, said dielectric material being limited to said bore within said terminal support section;
 an intermediate section interposed between said mounting section and said terminal support section to provide a cavity between a mounting surface and the housing when the housing is mounted, said intermediate section being substantially frustoconical in configuration;
   a terminal disposed and secured within said terminal support section, said dielectric material substantially isolating said terminal from said terminal support section, and an electronic circuit mounted in said cavity and being attached to said intermediate section, said electronic circuit being electrically connected to said terminal.

       15. The housing as recited in claim 1 wherein said intermediate section is frustoconical in configuration.
